Was reading Dad's Issue of Fortune Magazine and yeah~~ saw their TOOLS FOR BETTER LIVING thingy,. interesting ideas they have there really!!!

they have this cheap mobiles so the poor country can afford them... which i think is not very wow.... have this a syringe that cannot be shared in order to prevent aids and hepatitis~(very useful! it can only be used once since there's a certain contraption) This Smoke Free Stove for indoor cooking to reduce toxic fumes.,. Teaching softwares to irradicate Illiteracies.,.Biosentinel corps to tell the farmers whether they are growing plants in poor soil conditions or not~ (the corps'll like change colour or give odours to signal early warnings for diseases or pests..cool aye~)

Here's the 2 most cool things i think they have.,.
1. Portable Filter to Prevent Deadly Unclean Drinking Water
Now heck~ this portable filter looks like just a super duper thick straw... that filters deadly particles and 99% of water borne bacterias like the salmonella.... They said it is filled with carbon and.... u can suck those water from practically any source! Examples that the mag gave was sources like swampy stream.. aging lead pipes... like.. wow! Like they say.. "For the world's poorest, water isnt just a life-sustaining resource:it is also a killer... No longer so once this thingy is commercialised~~~~ its called the LifeStraws btw... cool eh~

2. Weather Insurance!
Find it a bit weird at first... but then after tt i tot its pretty cool tho i have no idea how it works for sure.... like~ "The french Insurer AXA teamed up with World Food Programme (WFP) that if in certain parts of Ethiopia... the rainfall for the year falls below a certain margin... a $930,000 premium, funded mostly by the US. would have yielded $7 Mill, payable immediately to WFP. " Like whoa! This kinda programme apparently had begun since 2002 made available to Mexico and India subsidized by the World Bank....

Cool right! have yet to read the rest of the magazines... but i did read about the sony ps3 that's already launched... USD 599...*faints* 599 is for the 60GB one... 499 for 20 GB system.. (Aiming for 60gb system... mwahahahahah... 100 buckz more for a difference of 40gb.. i think its more worth it to get the 60 one.....) Has that Blue-Ray player... thats sth like the HighDefinition-DVD player thingy.... Powered by the Sony Cell Processor... These 2 points already superior to the Microsoft's Xbox 360 i think.... Xbox 360 is the PowerPC Chip and OPTIONAL HD-DVD Drive.,PS3 is backward compatible... Which means u can run PS and PS2 Games here.. That totals up to about 16k games playable in the ps3~~~(like... I am so tempted to get one instead of getting a new PS2... but I think it is really wise to let the system stabilise first... lol!) Xbox's winning point to me right now is the~~ online gaming system they have... ps3's still not up yet... but... i dont play online games tt much anywae.. hee! and xbox 360 has more games up for them since the console's been released about a year earlier when compared to ps3.....graphic wise.. i think developers will take a loooooong time to develop ps3's true potential.... i hope so at least... the blue ray thingy and the cell processor are really 2 powerful beings... lol!

and this is wad the magazine say "Sleek and gleamin black, it blends in with the most sophisticated of living room home-theatre systems, which sets it apart from the alien designs of its 2 main competitors, the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the new Nintendo Wii"

While I dont have a sophisticated living room nor the home theatre systems... that description of sleek and gleaming black is really tempting me!!!!! I wonder how big the console is tho... no dimension's given... wonder if it is launched in Singapore yet~
